The energy at Vision 2024 was electric, and we were thrilled to be in the thick of it! As a key player in the machine vision industry, we are proud to participate in the highly anticipated Vision 2024 trade fair in Stuttgart. What we brought back to the lab? Shared experience, fresh insights, new friends, and many unforgettable memories. Let’s dig in.
3D Vision Takes Center Stage at Vision 2024
Imagine a world where robots can seamlessly pick and place objects in dynamic environments. At Vision 2024, we brought that vision to life. Alongside our much-valued partners Rebl Industries’ cutting-edge depalletization solution, we also demonstrated the power of multiview bin-picking in motion, a game-changing technology poised to revolutionize automation.
Our CTO, Svorad Štolc, also took the stage to shed light on how MotionCam-3D pushes the boundaries of 3D vision even further. And a little surprise on top? We called you out for a tiny contest to beat Rebl Machines – it was you against the robot face-off.
Curious to learn how these innovations can benefit your business? Let’s explore what we showcased at Vision 2024 in Stuttgart.
Vision Guided Tour 2024: A Look at AI-Powered Robotic Depalletization
At Vision 2024, we offered attendees a glimpse into the future of logistics with a guided tour showcasing our AI-powered robotic depalletization solution. We know everyone is tired of slow, labor-intensive logistics, so we were excited to demonstrate how this technology can accelerate operations and improve efficiency.
Led by our Business Development Director, Robert Cisar, the guided tour gave attendees a firsthand look at this game-changing technology. A live demo showcased the solution in action, illustrating how AI-powered robotic depalletization can revolutionize logistics operations. At booth #10C40 in Hall 10, we engaged with attendees eager to explore the future of logistics. We discussed their specific needs and demonstrated how our solution can optimize their workflows.
Key Highlights:
- Photoneo 3D vision: Our high-resolution 3D cameras provided the depth data necessary for precise object recognition, enabling the robot to accurately identify and locate boxes in challenging environments.
- Powerful AI: Sophisticated algorithms effortlessly handled thousands of box types, ensuring accurate picks and collision-free movement, even with mixed pallets.
- Unmatched speed: Attendees witnessed depalletization speeds of up to 1300 packages per hour, demonstrating the potential to significantly boost throughput and efficiency.
Scientific Vision Days 2024: A Deep Dive into 3D Vision
At Vision 2024, our CTO, Svorad Štolc, delivered a captivating presentation titled “Advancing 3D Vision for Robotic Handling of Transparent and Occluded Objects” as part of Scientific Vision Days 2024.
Scientific Vision Days 2024 provided a valuable opportunity for attendees to engage with leading experts and gain insights from the forefront of scientific research. Participants expanded their knowledge by delving into the technical intricacies of advanced 3D vision systems and connected with peers in the field.
The presentation delved into the latest advancements in 3D vision-guided robotics (VGR), with a focus on:
- Breakthroughs in 3D scanning: Attendees learned how Photoneo is overcoming the challenges of capturing transparent and occluded objects, enabling robots to “see” and interact with previously difficult-to-perceive items.
- Robust solutions for complex environments: We showcased a 3D VGR system capable of handling objects of any shape, material, or placement, demonstrating its adaptability and reliability in real-world scenarios.
- The future of automation: The presentation explored how these advancements are shaping industries from logistics to manufacturing, highlighting the potential for increased efficiency, productivity, and safety.
Furthermore, our CTO, Svorad Štolc, presented MotionCam-3D at the Scientific VISION days hosted by AIT – Austrian Institute of Technology.
“While conventional structured light technologies need to emit several light patterns in a sequence, the Parallel Structured Light technology allows capturing a number of patterns in one laser sweep thanks to the proprietary COMPIS sensor,” he said. “This enables transparent scanning a magnitude faster than using the standard approach.”

Industrial Vision Days 2024: Robotic Picking of Transparent and Hidden Objects
Moving forward, our CTO, Svorad Štolc, took the stage at Industrial Vision Days 2024 to deliver a groundbreaking presentation titled “Crossing 3D Limits for Robotic Picking of Transparent and Hidden Objects.”
These innovations are transforming bin-picking and other applications by enabling robots to reliably handle challenging objects, regardless of their shape, material, or placement. This increased capability leads to greater efficiency and productivity, unlocking the full potential of automation across various industries.
Industrial Vision Days 2024 provided a platform for us to share our latest advancements and engage with industry professionals. The event fostered valuable discussions about the future of 3D vision and its impact on automation.
The presentation highlighted Photoneo’s latest innovations in 3D vision-guided robotics, focusing on:
- Conquering the translucence Attendees witnessed how Photoneo has achieved 3D scanning of semi-transparent objects and minimized reflections, a significant breakthrough in robotic perception.
- Unleashing multi-perspective scanning: We demonstrated the speed of a single camera setup combined with the power of multiple perspectives, offering enhanced accuracy and efficiency.
Vision 2024 Contest: Man vs. Machine
We decided to have a little fun at Vision 2024 by putting our visitors to the test. Our latest bin-picking demo, powered by Rebl Industries robots, became the stage for an exciting man vs. machine challenge. Attendees were invited to try their hand at slowing down the robot by strategically arranging boxes in the bin to create the most challenging scenario possible.
It was a battle of wits and dexterity as our visitors attempted to outsmart the MotionCam-powered robot and disrupt its normally impeccable pace. The results were intriguing, and we captured some impressive attempts to stump the system. How did they fare? Let’s see!
