Photoneo’s cutting-edge 3D vision technology was a key highlight at Automation World and Smart Factory 2025, held at COEX in Seoul. Across multiple booths, leading companies showcased innovative applications powered by Photoneo’s advanced 3D scanning solutions.

Among those representing Photoneo at the event was Tomas Michalik, Director of Global Key Account Management, who engaged with industry leaders and demonstrated the transformative potential of Photoneo’s 3D vision systems.

“It was fantastic to see so many companies integrating Photoneo technology into their solutions,” commented Michalik. “The strong presence across multiple booths is inspirational, showcasing the reliability of our 3D scanners in addressing complex automation challenges.”

The exhibition provided a platform for partners to showcase innovative applications powered by Photoneo’s advanced 3D vision. Notable demonstrations included:

  • 3D Object Finger by VISIONEYES: This demo featured a robotic arm equipped with a Photoneo 3D sensor in a hand-eye configuration. The system adeptly scanned, localized, and identified objects in 3D space, showcasing the precision and efficiency of Photoneo sensors in object recognition tasks.
  • Depalletization Application by INAMCT: INAMCT presented an outstanding demo of our depalletization – a smart AI-ready solution that uses neural networks pre-trained to accurately pick  and depalletize mixed boxes of any shape or color. A robotic arm utilizing a MotionCam-3D in a hand-eye setup while the system is able to scan various boxes on a pallet, enabling the robot to perform impeccable path planning and collision avoidance. This allowed for precise grasping of boxes with a gripper, demonstrating the power of 3D vision in complex material handling applications.
  • 3D Sneakers Inspection by Zebra Technologies: Zebra Technologies showcased the use of Photoneo 3D scanners to accurately scan and create digital twins of white sneakers. This application highlighted the ability to perform full-scale inspection across x, y, and z coordinates, demonstrating the potential of 3D scanning for quality control and digital twin creation in manufacturing.
  • 3D Vision-Guided Robotics by EVT: EVT showcased a robotic arm equipped with a MotionCam-3D scanning a whiteboard. This demonstration highlighted the system’s ability to not only draw geometric shapes but also to recognize hand-drawn images or text. EVT’s software then generates a precise trajectory for the robot to replicate the drawing or writing. Furthermore, the system utilizes 3D scanning to understand the whiteboard’s surface orientation, ensuring the robot writes perpendicularly to the board.
  • Snapshot 3D Scanning by CYLOD: CYLOD utilized the MotionCam-3D to snapshot-scan an entire scene, recreating a lifelike and colorful digital twin. This demonstration highlighted the speed and accuracy of Photoneo’s snapshot 3D technology in capturing complex environments.

The strong presence and diverse applications showcased at Automation World and Smart Factory 2025 underscore Photoneo’s commitment to driving innovation in the automation industry. The company’s advanced 3D vision technology continues to empower businesses to optimize processes, improve efficiency, and achieve new levels of automation.
