University projects using Photoneo technology

Challenge:

The Slovak University of Technology cooperates with Photoneo in several projects.

 

Solution:

PhoXi 3D Scanner

The key project for SUT was the cooperation with the National Center of Robotics where the university used the Photoneo PhoXi 3D Scanner for the first time in a project named Robotic picking of parts for Volkswagen Slovakia a.s. This was the start of successful collaboration with VW and also the beginning of cooperation between VW and Photoneo. 

The next projects deploying Photoneo technology included studies for a station for automated robotic measurements conducted for the Slovak Legal Metrology and measurements of the accuracy of the PhoXi 3D Scanner.

Currently, the Slovak University of Technology works on a statistical extension of the accuracy of the PhoXi 3D Scanner using the Monte Carlo method.

The PhoXi 3D Scanner is also fully integrated into teaching programs and a number of final theses have already been based on it. The vision system is also used in the SUT laboratory for advanced industrial robotics, which is part of TestBed 4.0 powered by SOVA Digital.

 

Discussion:

The Slovak University of Technology decided to use Photoneo technology based on the high-quality features it provides and the fact that Photoneo is a Slovak-based company. The university already prepares a number of other projects and looks forward to further cooperation with Photoneo.
