Challenge:

Previously, the customer was using a scanning 3D camera. Now they use Photoneo’s PhoXi 3D Scanner based on the structured light technology. It provides good point cloud data, suppression of ambient light, fast image acquisition and other advantages which resulted in the customer’s great satisfaction.

Solution:

PhoXi 3D Scanner 

Using the PhoXi 3D Scanner, the robot is guided to grab the brake discs and feed the machine. This is done by identifying the center position and the positive and negative attitude of the brake discs and sending the data to the robot.

Discussion:

The PhoXi 3D Scanner was chosen based on its large depth of field, meeting the customer’s material frame size, fast scanning speed and low external light interference.

The solution led to the reduction of error rate and increased productivity.
